Mehreen Jabbar is an award-winning director and producer with two decades of experience. Her work spans feature films, TV and streaming series, shorts, and corporate videos. Known for her strong female characters, Mehreen’s projects explore themes of human relationships, societal issues, and urban life. Notable works include Jackson Heights, Farar, and Lala Begum. Her first feature, Ramchand Pakistani, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, winning the FIPRESCI Prize and the Satyajit Ray Award. It was also screened at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Her second feature, Dobara Phir Se, was showcased at various film festivals worldwide. Mehreen has directed episodic series for streaming platforms like Zee5 and GEO TV. She has extensive experience in branded content and has created videos for nonprofits like Development in Literacy and the Texas Muslim Women’s Foundation.
She has served as a directing mentor at Mira Nair’s Maisha Film Lab and has been a jury member at South Asian film festivals. Mehreen has also spoken at universities including NYU, Columbia, the School of Visual Arts, and King’s College, UK. She is a founding member of WAR (War Against Rape) and the KaraFilm Festival in Pakistan.
