Sukhmani Sadana is an Indian actor and writer, one of the few girls in the Bollywood industry who has managed to make a name for herself as a writer and as an actor simultaneously.

While she has written films for Netflix, Amazon, Bollywood Films, Web Series, Ads etc, at the same time she also acted in many web series herself. Get to know her a little bit….

ACTING:

Sukhmani acted in a Tv show for YASH RAJ films called Khotey Sikkey. After which she was seen in Anurag Kashyap’s SACRED GAMES on Netflix. She acted in the film ‘MANMARZIYAAN’ with Abhishek Bachan and Vicky Kaushal. After that Sukhmani was in the primary cast of TANDAV on Amazon prime with Saif Ali Khan and Dimple Kapadia. She acted in ‘Heart Break Hotel’ as the famous Prateek Gandhi’s wife on SONY LIV. She was also seen in ‘Parchayee’ web series on ZEE5 (Ruskin Bond’s stories) with actress Ira Dubey as her co-actor. In 2022, Sukhmani was the only actress seen in 5 web series together in the same year.

DIL BEKARAR (the adaptation of the bestseller book ‘Those Pricey Thakur Girls’) as one of the lead actresses as The Thakur Girl. This web series released on Disney HOTSTAR with Raj Babbar, Poonam Dhillon and Sukhmani Sadana. She was also seen in as the lead actress in ‘UDAN PATOLAS, a comedy web series on AMAZON Prime, produced by Applause Entertainment (Sukhmani also WROTE this show all by herself).

After this she was seen in APHARAN 2 opposite Arunodhay Singh on VOOT, Alt and Zee5 which was produced by Alt Balaji, and this show was The TOP 10 shows of India by IMDB. The next web series for her was THE BROKEN NEWS where she played Jaideep Ahlawat’s wife along with Sonali Bendre. This show is on ZEE5 and was declared at the MOST WATCHED WEB SERIES of 2022.

Sukhmani got most appreciation for the show on SONY LIV called TANAAV (the Indian Adaptation of FAUDA on Netlfix) where acted amongst top actors such as Manav Vij, Rajat Kapoor and Arbaaz Khan.

WRITING EXPERIENCE:

Apart from writing many ads during her advertising career at Ogilvy & Mather, Mumbai, she moved to writing for web series and Bollywood mainstream Feature films, where she wrote for directors such as Kunal Kohli (Phir Se) and Vikram Bhatt (1920 London) But Sukhmani’s career took a whooping rise when her film JOGI released on NETFLIX. The film is directed by Ali Abbas and has Daljit Dosanjh as the lead actor. The film has Trended No. 1 in India and No. 7 globally in 2022. It has been possibility the most appreciated film of the year with every media channel talking about the same.

Next for her as a writer, ROCKTETRY released in theatres and then on AMAZON PRIME. Rocketry, a film by R. Madhavan and Sukhmani was the co- writer with him on the screenplay. The film was the talk of the industry as it had an opening at CANNES FILM FESTIVAL, 2022 that Sukhmani went for and the cherry on top was when ROCKETRY made an entry at the OSCARS, 2023.

Apart from this she also wrote the hit web series- UDAN PATOLAS on Amzon Prime (which she also acted in). She wrote a short film produced by Gulpanag for ‘Large Short Films’. Her next project as a writer releasing soon is a Banking & finance show.

ANCHORING CAREER:

Sukhmani has hosted more than 100 travel shows with Travel channels such as NDTV Good times, Cnn ibn and Travel XP HD. She has hosted live events, corporate and entertainment events.

Some of the live events she hosted/ emceed/ anchored are: IIFA Award, GRAZIA BEAUTY AWARDS, NYKKA FEMINA AWARDS, FORBES D2C Awards, FORBES TALENT LEADERS, Forbes Top 30 Talent Leaders, DROOLS Summits and many more.

She also hosted for Sports Events such as X1 RACING LEAGUE ON STAR SPORTS, KOREA Travel show for History Channel, CLUB MAHINDRA TRAVEL SHOW FOR CNN IBN, ‘The Ameo Car Racing Cup’ by Volkswagen on DISCOVERY SPORTS, INDIAN RACING LEAGUE, 2023 on Star Sports. She hosted Zee Cine and Zee Zest Awards with Ayushman Khurana.

But her main claim to fame was her anchoring ‘Tata IPL, 2023’ on Jio Cinema, undoubtedly India’s biggest and the most watch Cricket Indian Premier League.

Another feather to her cap, for 2 years (2019-2022), Sukhmani Sadana was also THE Editor-in-Chief of an International Digital Magazine called ‘Face’.
